Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for Psychosocial Substance Misuse Caseload Holder based at HMP Berwyn in North Wales. 

Substance Misuse in the prison setting is a specialist role working with people who have attracted a prison sentence.  The client group includes people with adverse childhood experiences, people with head injuries, people with learning disability, people with mental health needs and people with ASD type presentations.  The caseload is stimulating and complex, with no two days being the same.  

Main duties of the job

We are looking for Substance Misuse Caseload Holders who are keen to work in this fast paced environment as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will:

  • Focus on the substance misuse needs of the client group while holding a caseload of your own patients
  • Promote recovery and reduce the likelihood of reoffending
  • Be part of a team offering you a wide selection of opportunities to peer work
  • Be involved in the development of the service
  • Enjoy flexible working that is responsive to the environment including undertaking duties which are new to substance misuse (full training will be given)
  • Be able to work across a 7 day shift pattern including bank holidays
  • Have current knowledge of substance misuse issues, experience of case managing and be able to develop / deliver group interventions

The successful candidate(s) will have proven experience of working with behavioural change, excellent organisational skills and the ability to formulate an understanding of clients with complex needs.
