Job overview

 An exciting opportunity for an Experienced Mental Health  Team Manager to Join the Community Rehabilitation Mental Health serviice.  As part of regional specialist commissioning care services, the post holder will be responsible for the  clinical , operational management of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, based in Wrexham, who provide Community Rehabilitation Services for  Service Users with complex  mental health rehabilitation needs across a wide variety of clinical and community settings. These include NHS rehabilitation inpatient units, out of area placements such as independent hospitals, low secure units, and specialist placements, and within the service users own homes in the community.

 

Main duties of the job

This position requires a highly motivated individual, who is both pro-active and forward thinking  and can provide both clinical and operational support to the team.  Good communication and organisational skills are required along with experience of previous management of staff and a wide knowledge of Mental Health services. 

The post holder will be required to support the service manager to achieve the key performance indicators in relation to governance, performance, and be accountable for the KPIs for the cohort of staff within their service area, ensuring that KPIs are met and focus is maintained. To also work with the Service Manager to support in the development and implementation of key strategies including quality assurance, and risk management, performance management and service development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Key responsibility to lead on the operational management and clinical monitoring of all BCUHB Mental Health patients who are placed in externally commissioned independent Hospitals, including low secure and locked rehabilitation hospitals in line with the Mental Health Measure ensuring that all patients have a clear identified discharge pathway and are in appropriate Care provision and are repatriated closer to home in a timely and safe manner

The post has a key responsibility for Mental Health Measure Implementation compliance and subsequent reporting.

The post holder will have operational responsibility for the monitoring of assessments of patients needs and future discharge planning ensuring that the focus remains on repatriation and care closer to home. Ensuring providers in current provision work toward reducing risk and dependency promoting hope and recovery to facilitate timely discharge.

Ensuring effective partnership and interagency working between the six Local Authorities within North Wales. The post holder is also required to understand Section 117 legislation to enable the facilitation of funding applications and placements within England and Wales to ensure patients are repatriated to the areas of their choosing.  

The post holder will work closely with their service manager, head of nursing, head of operations and service delivery and in partnership with their equivalent Local Authority CMHT Colleagues.

Provide a visible and accessible clinical and operational resource in  settings to whom managers, staff, patients and their families can access assistance advice and support. 

 

Person specification

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Registered clinical professional Nursing OT or Social Work
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Working toward Master’s Degree within 2 years in post or equivalent level experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in management of working with patients and complex risk and mental disorders
  • Experience of team leadership experience of working in a busy and challenging environment
  • Up to date in all current issues related to professional mental health / social care service management and legislation
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate a constructive and creative approach to problem solving

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to provide formal teaching development to staff / colleagues
  • Good research knowledge and ability to build research and capacity in others
