Job overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Thrombosis Service team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital hospital for a Band 7 thrombosis specialist nurse. You will take an innovative role in the management and development of nurse-led outpatient thrombosis service with a Consultant Haematologist as the clinical lead. You will join a forward thinking innovative team working across a variety of specialities across both secondary and primary care.
The DVT service runs Monday-Friday (excluding Bank holidays)
Main duties of the job
As the successful post holder you will:
- Coordinate the diagnosis, assessment and management of a clinical caseload of patients with suspected and actual deep vein thrombosis in an acute outpatient setting. Liaise with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe continuity of care throughout all health settings
- Act as a resource by providing highly developed and specialist information, advice and guidance on anti-coagulation for patients, their relatives and other health professionals
- Coordinate and contribute to the provision of specialist education and training for the junior doctors, nursing staff and students within the trust and for GP surgery staff

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Post Graduate or equivalent Degree and an ability to study at Masters Level
- Teaching qualification
Desirable criteria
- Completion of thromb-prophylaxis course
- Nurse prescribing qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive and proven clinical experience in the care and treatment of patients with thrombo-embolic problems
- Experience of teaching and assessing in the clinical area and presenting
- Participated in service development and implementation of change

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
