Job overview
- The post holder will assist registered nurses / practitioners in the provision of delegated care of renal patients. The post holder will endeavour to provide for the holistic needs of the individual, in conjunction with other disciplines within the care environment.
- The post holder will undertake a broad range of duties and will be expected to work independently, and as part of the team, supervising patients and assisting them as required.
- The post holder will be required to offer assistance in the induction of band 2 renal health care support workers.
- The post holder will able to deliver elements of renal care by having the knowledge and assessed level of competence to undertake such a role which will be locally assessed.

Qualifications and / or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- QCF Level 3 or equivalent qualifications / experience.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care related subjects or equivalent qualifications / experience.
- Good knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Desirable criteria
- All Wales HCSW induction framework.
- Knowledge of working in a renal environment.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a HCSW without direct supervision in a renal setting and being managed by a qualified practitioner.
- Good understanding of risk assessment and management.
