Job overview

Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit enthusiastic, motivated urology theatre practitioners to help grow the service.

A team of urologists provides a service covering anything from stone surgery, laser prostatectomy to reconstructive urology and more recently, robotics. We are looking for three theatre urology nurses to join the team to help the expansion of the service at this exciting time.

Urology also forms part of a specialty network that includes gynaecology, fertility and obstetrics, even though these posts are for Urology, there is an opportunity to expand your knowledge base and skills.  The activity is organised between Main Theatres and Day Surgery and each  specialty has a senior team lead who will provide plenty of support for the successful applicants.

We offer personal and professional development within our friendly team and have an excellent Departmental Education Team. If you have experience of working in a urology theatre and are looking for an exciting opportunity, please apply.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver high quality evidence-based care with attention to patient experience.
  • To be responsible for the assessment, planning and reviewing of care throughout the operating list.
  • You will develop and demonstrate effective leadership qualities using excellent interpersonal skills when working in the multi disciplinary team.
  • You will maintain a safe environment through developing and maintaining  skills in the use of surgical equipment/instrumentation according to manufacturers' instructions and Trust policies.
  • You will share your knowledge and skills through mentorship, supervision and teaching where applicable.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of cost effective practice and understand the principles of stock control, liaising with senior staff where necessary.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility towards professional learning  keeping up to date with training and adhering to Trust guidelines and policies.
  • You will demonstrate an awareness of the Trust's recovery plan and an understanding of list productivity, efficiency and planning.
  • You will have good IT skills and demonstrate accurate record keeping.
