The Plastic Surgery Outpatient department have a Band 5 Registered Nurse position, 37.5 hours per week (not set days) of a 9-month Fixed term opportunity to cover maternity leave.
The shift pattern is 4 days per week, 8am to 5pm plus 1 half day of 4.5 hours.
We are seeking a Band 5 nurse who has current plastic, surgical or wound care experience with at least one years’ current nursing care experience in these specialities. As the role involves supporting our minor op theatres, the successful candidate will ideally have surgical scrub skills for supporting our minor surgical and emergency trauma lists. However, if you do not have these skills, full training will be given. You should have current NMC professional registration, previous surgical or plastic nursing experience, evidence of continuous professional development and a teaching and assessing qualification.

This secondment opportunity would mean your current post can be held for your return; and the fixed term means your current manager can get temporary staff to fill your post while you try something new.

• The ability to work both independently and as part of the wider Multidisciplinary Team
• Supporting and assisting your consultant colleagues in the smooth running of their clinics.
• Acting as a chaperone.
• Surgical scrub skills for supporting our outpatient minor surgical and emergency trauma lists. However if you do not have these skills,

We will support you in obtaining competencies to support this service.
As part of the Plastic Surgery nursing team you will support our qualified staff in undertaking all aspects of outpatient care including clinics,
dressings and minor operations. If you do not already possess general scrub & circulating skills additional training will be given to support you in
this role.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to diploma/degree or equivalent level of education, training or experience in Nursing
- Registered Nurse with the NMC
- Teaching/Assessing qualification
- Excellent Communication skills
- Secondary Care Experience in Outpatients and/or Theatres is advantageous but full training will be given.
- Previous experience with dressing skills to support plastic surgery and our trauma clinics.
- Surgical scrub skills for supporting our outpatient minor surgical and emergency trauma lists would be advantageous but full training will be given.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
