We have an exciting opportunity to join the paediatric team on Sarum Ward as a Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse . We are looking for for someone who is enthusiastic , experienced and a motivated paediatric nurse who is passionate about the delivery of high quality care to children and young people ( CYP )
Sarum Ward has 16 beds for CYP aged 0- 16 years and is an acute paediatric ward . In addition to general paediatrics we specialise in the care of burns and plastic surgery and cleft lip and palate. The ward also includes a busy Day Assessment Unit where we take CYP with open access, from GP referrals and also from our Emergency Department .

Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Junior Sister/ Charge Nurse you will be responsible for being part of management and leadership team of the ward , deputising for the Ward Lead in their absence .
You will coordinate the smooth running of the ward ensuring the delivery of high standards of clinical care in adherence with local and National policies and guidelines.
You will be expected to work as part of the multidisciplinary team , assessing , planning , giving and supervising safe and compassionate care, and evaluating it's effectiveness .

Education Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Paediatric Nurse with a Diploma , Advanced Diploma or Degree in Nursing or equivalent level of knowledge.
- NMC approved assessor or supervisor
- Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development related to specialty
Desirable criteria
- APALS/ EPALS course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a band 5 nurse in an acute paediatric setting
- Evidence of leadership and management within a health care setting
- Evidence of working within a multidisciplinary structure
- Evidence of teaching and assessing
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of innovation of change
- Evidence of quality audit or health improvement projects
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Proven clinical skills in specialty
- Awareness of safeguarding and relevant pathways
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
