Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as Senior Hepatology/Alcohol Clinical Nurse specialist within the progressive and collaborative hepatology/alcohol department within the GI Unit at SFT.
As an autonomous and experienced CNS the post holder will be able to make direct impact on patient care, and participate in service wide improvements and developments that best meet the needs of the patient group.
Working within the collaborative and supportive MDT you will deliver care to people with a range of hepatology diagnoses, and also to those who are at risk of developing liver disease due to alcohol use disorder.
Main duties of the job
As a senior clinical nurse specialist, you will:
Undertake a clinical caseload using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience.
Independently Triage Referrals
Provide outpatient clinics both on Hospital site and potentially based in the community.
Offer clinical leadership and managerial support to the Hepatology and Alcohol Care Teams.
Undertake clinical audit and be involved in research opportunities.
The post holder will be expected to generate and maintain excellent communication links between emergency department, inpatient, outpatient, and community services. To represent SFT and participate in local steering groups such as Wiltshire Health Inequalities Group.
Providing compassionate and inclusive leadership to the Hepatology/Alcohol team in line with trust policy and leading in responsive action to shared goals and objectives demonstrating skill in management of change.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Evidence of level 7 professional development
- 5 years post registration experience
- Experience of working in gastroenterology/hepatology/alcohol care
Desirable criteria
- Non Medical prescribing
- Experience in line management and service improvement
