We actively encourage applications irrespective of people’s age, lived experience of living with a disability or long-term conditions, gender, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances.

Increasing our diversity and supporting our organisation to be more inclusive is a key priority here at Airedale and our teams are at the centre of how we work towards this.

We appreciate all people may have diverse and individual needs and we pride ourselves on supporting all people to thrive and flourish at work. This is a Trust that sits at the heart of our community, and our communities are very proud of their Trust.

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Adult Nurses, who already have a relevant degree, to study Midwifery at Masters level.

You will have the opportunity to undertake MSc Midwifery (shortened course) whilst working with our Midwifery Team. This course will afford you with the knowledge and skills to become a registered Midwife .

Please note this is a fixed term contract for the duration of the MSc programme.

N.B. Salary support for the duration of the course is provided by Health Education England at a maximum salary of mid band 5 (AFC). As this is a studentship, previous salary bandings will not be matched and there are no enhanced payments for unsociable hours. Health Education England will also be funding university tuition fees for those commencing shortened midwifery training between January 2022 - April 2024 (up to a maximum of £9,250 per annum). Some students may also be eligible for a means tested maintenance loan.

Further information can be obtained through Student Finance England. Successful applicants will need to be able to travel to University of Bradford for the theoretical components of the course.

Main duties of the job

This course will enable you to become a highly-skilled, autonomous midwife. You will learn how to support, advise, and advocate for women, birthing individuals, their partners, and their families, by providing evidence-based care throughout pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.

Throughout your studies, you'll be fully supported by midwifery academics and practice educators. With the support of experienced midwife lecturers and practice supervisors our students are able to develop the competencies and essential skills mandated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council to enable registration as a midwife.

This degree will build on their skills and knowledge as a registered adult nurse to work as part of a multi-professional team and develop them into an autonomous registered midwife.

Working for our organisation

We are always looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way we provide our services.  Community matters to us and we are supported by 400 dedicated volunteers and have strong links with Bradford University, Craven College and Leeds City College to ensure we inspire the workforce of the future.

We want to attract staff who embrace our ‘Right Care’ behaviours of compassion, a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients – we want to make these part of our DNA.
