You will work collaboratively with Merseycare Mental Health Team, Change Grow Live (recovery staff), and HMPPS staff to ensure the best possible care is provided to the patients.

Please note, the £1500 Welcome Payment is payable to new staff joining Spectrum only. 

Main duties of the job

As a Lead Nurse, your role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and leadership such as:

·         Shift coordination – overseeing staffing levels and production of rotas.

·         Participating in audits

·         Management of junior members of staff

·         Supporting multi-disciplinary team’s such as:

o   Diabetic retinopathy screening

o   AAA screening

o   Ultrasounds and X-Rays

·         Medication rounds and dispensing

·         Emergency response situations

·         Patient assessments

·         Nurse-led clinics, such as:

o   NHS Health Checks

o   Immunisations and Vaccinations

o   NHS Bowel Screening

o   Phlebotomy clinics

o   Wound and Tissue Viability assessments.

·         Assessing new patients who have just arrived at the establishment for the first time.

·         Complete clinical assessments

·         Triaging the acutely unwell patients

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered General Nurse Level 1
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD and delivery of evidence based care
  • Independent Nurse /Supplementary/ NonMedical Prescriber qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Appropriate management qualification of equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • RCGP Cert 1/2 Primary Care/LTC qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post registration experience
  • Significant experience of working in a complex environment with multidisciplinary professionals demonstrating effective communication and leadership skills
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of clinical governance used to improve patient care
  • Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
  • Change management experience
  • Experience of leading a team and effectively using policy and procedures to improve clinical and professional standards
  • Experience of multidisciplinary/multi agency working
  • Understanding and application of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within Health & Justice
  • Experience of working in primary care/substance misuse/acute care
  • Understanding of local and national key documents and their impact on health care delivery in a prison setting
  • Research experience
