We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who have a passion for caring for older adults with cognitive impairment. This role requires a person who is able to work without direct supervision, uses their own initiative and has previous care experience. Must also have reliable IT, written and verbal communication skills, and be creative and practical; work well within a team and be confident.

We expect you to be willing to learn and develop your skills, also prioritise your workload and contribute to new ideas to improve the care and experience of our patients.

The role of Enhanced Care Support Worker is to support the multidisciplinary teams on the wards, providing  24 hour care for people with cognitive impairment, who are distressed and at risk of harm to themselves or others. Training will be provided in specialised skills including; social engagement; ; and enhanced conflict resolution techniques to enable these patients to experience individualised person centered care.

The Enhanced Care Team  can be based on any ward over both hospital sites, to provide support for both patients and staff.

Shift patterns are over a 24 hour period with Nights, Long days, Earlies and Lates; these posts require some weekend and bank holiday working as part of the ward rotas. You will be ward based and there will be times when you will be asked to move areas to support as needed by ward staff and on-call matrons.

Each patients needs will be considered on an individual basis. 

Training will be provided in specialised skills including; social engagement; ; and de-escalation techniques to enable these patients to experience individualised person centred dementia care.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

  • Health specific NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) or equivalent acute health care experience
  • GCSE English grade 9-2 (A*-E) or equivalent or a pass at the Maths and English assessment
  • Willingness to undertake any training or development relevant to the role.
