Job overview
We are currently looking for keen and motivated Nurse to recruit into a Band 6 post. You must be an RN with a minimum 2 years post registration experience within an emergency department. You will also hold a qualification in Mentoring/ Slip.
You will be required to have effective leadership skills, good communication skills, good interpersonal skills and evidence of professional development is a must. The successful candidate will be required to shift lead and maintain the flow of the department in a safe and efficient manner. You will be expected to work across site.
Main duties of the job
You will joining the emergency departments covering two sites, that currently see on average 500 patients a day (cross site). This is an extremely busy, but exciting time to join the trust as we are currently working towards the new configuration. Both departments consist of Triage/Rapid Assessment, Resuscitation Room, Majors and Minor Injuries/Illness.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The key areas within this role will be to assist the department senior sister/matron in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of services and to provide clinical and managerial leadership for nursing and support staff.
There will be an expectation that you can deputise for department senior sister/matron in their absence, with this role you will also be expected to take a lead on clinical practice issues.
You will be required to work a 24/7 rotational shift pattern of days, nights and twilights.

Essential criteria
- First level Registration Diploma.
- Teaching/Mentoring Certificate / skills.
- Post registration education in relevant specialty
Desirable criteria
- Other Post Basic Qualification
- Working towards appropriate degree.
Experience
Essential criteria
- 2 years’ experience as a band 5 within an Emergency Department.
Desirable criteria
- Conducting appraisals
- Datix / Incident reporting
Training
Essential criteria
- Responsible for own post basic education. To meet the requirements of the service and revalidation.
Special Knowledge/ Expertise
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of future provision of services
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Electronic patient record
