An exciting opportunity has arisen for aspirant band 6 sister/charge nurse to support the senior team on Ward 6B - General Medicine.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team, and take on a new challenge. Flexibility and willingness to embrace new ways of working dependent on service needs is an essential part of the role.
To provide clinical and managerial leadership for nursing and support staff
To deputise for the Departmental Manager in their absence
To take a lead on clinical practice and departmental issues
To work clinically in all areas of the department.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse Qualification
- Evidence of own post basic education to meet the requirements of the service and nurse registration
Desirable criteria
- Teaching/Mentoring Certificate / skills
- Other Post Basic Qualification
- Leadership development programme
Knowledge, Experience & Expertise
Essential criteria
- Significant experience as a Band 5 registered nurse within a hospital setting
- A commitment to providing exceptional levels of patient care in a professional and compassionate manner
- Awareness of the Must-Dos
- Leadership and clinical supervision skills
Desirable criteria
- Recent experience working within Acute Medicine
- Recent experience in undertaking staff appraisals
- Knowledge of Acute Medicine
- Involvement in Quality Improvement initiatives
Communication and Relationships
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrates professional leadership skills
- Ability to delegate, organise and prioritise care delivery
