Probationary Period
All new staff to the Trust will be subject to a standard 6 month probationary period, the details of which will duly follow in your contract of employment.

Agile and Flexible Working
All our staff will have a work base. However the Trust operates as an Agile Working Team therefore staff may be working from home on a regular basis as required by the service. However, occasionally travel around Warwickshire and into your base will be required so access to your own transport would be helpful.

Job overview
South Warwickshire NHS Trust are looking to recruit bank maternity vaccinators to support our maternity vaccination team with our maternal and neonatal vaccination programme and pregnancy screening pathways.
The post may involve working at either Warwick & Stratford upon Avon Hospitals alongside our maternity teams.

Main duties of the job
To provide the women who access our maternity service a robust approach to the immunisation programme for seasonal Flu, pertussis and COVID vaccinations, in addition to delivering a BCG vaccination clinic which provides the BCG vaccine to all eligible babies on the universal BCG programme.
You will work as an Immunisation Nurse / Midwife providing clinical expertise to pregnant women and their babies.
The post holder will ensure that appropriate vaccinations are offered and administered to all pregnant women and that they are actively encouraged to uptake. You will ensure that each women and her partner are given up to date informed choice regarding immunisations for themselves and their babies. The post holder will be required to maintain up to date medical immunisation records as required. The post holder will provide optimum quality of care to patients, offering support to the multi-professional team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Clinical
Work in partnership with the client, Midwives, GP, obstetricians and other agencies to ensure that all women are offered and given where appropriate Seasonal Influenza, Pertussis and Covid-19 vaccinations to pregnant women.
Work within the BCG vaccination clinic to provide BCG vaccines to neonates and babies who are eligible for the vaccine on the universal programme.
Facilitate the learning of immunisation and vaccination skills through supervision, teaching and support.
Actively promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle, advising and arranging support for women as required.
Ensure that records that the vaccinations have been administered are maintained in the appropriate medical record.
Ensure quality standards are met.
Maintain up to date professional knowledge, which is demonstrated through clinical practice.
Be accountable for own actions in accordance with the NMC Code.
Contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team including situations where difficulties in comprehension occur.
Uphold and maintain the Trusts values.
Actively strive to ensure that you are fully up to date with policies and guidelines.
Ensure systems are in place to ensure the safety and confidentiality of patients at all times.
Offer vaccination to all women after 12/40 and 20/40 pregnancy scan.
Ensure this offer is recorded.
Provide Nuchal screening to consented women following 12/40 scan.
To check consent and undertake a general health assessment prior to vaccination or screening test.

Essential criteria
- First Level RGN
- Degree/Diploma in Nursing/Health studies
- NMC Registration
- Venepuncture trained
- Have undertaken immunisation modules as required on NHS e learning for health
