Salary: £35,392-£42,618 per annum

Main duties of the job

To assist with the planning, development and assessment of resuscitation skills education programmes and assessments within simulation for learners and Trust employees.

To set up and maintain equipment for teaching sessions as required.

To assist with the planning, organisation, and scheduling of accredited resuscitation courses for relevant clinical staff and learners on placement within the Trust.

To influence patient and clinical safety through delivery of effective education and assessment programmes to ensure the safe use of highly complex equipment such as defibrillators and emergency equipment.

To continually seek to improve the quality of education through the use of evidence-based practice, liaising with professional colleagues, reviewing literature and evaluating feedback.

To act as a role model exploiting every opportunity to enhance the knowledge of others in issues relating to resuscitation and to promote health and safety and risk assessment.

To work towards obtaining Advanced Life Support Provider Status and Resuscitation Council UK accredited instructor certificates, for Basic Life Support, Immediate Life Support Instructor and/or Paediatric Immediate Life Support.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To assist with the planning, development, delivery and assessment of specialised resuscitation skills education programmes and assessments within simulation for learners and Trust employees.

To set up and maintain equipment for teaching sessions as required.

To assist with the planning, organisation, and scheduling of accredited resuscitation courses for relevant clinical staff and learners on placement within the Trust.

To maintain a professional attitude at all times, developing the role of the 
Resuscitation Skills Facilitator in the best interests of the patient and profession in accordance with their relevant professional body e.g. Nursing and Midwifery Council(NMC)/ Health and Care Professions Council – Code of Conduct.

To assist with the development and implementation of a strategy and associated Version September 2024 teaching and assessment resources for resuscitation education within the Trust.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Relevant clinical experience as a registrant
  • Relevant clinical experience in acute care
  • Previous experience leading a team
  • Awareness of teaching and assessment methods
  • Proficiency in a wide range of clinical skills
  • Able to explain how to promote best practice and apply evidence-based practice
  • IT literate with experience of using PowerPoint, Excel, Word and e-mail
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching in different settings
  • Experience of supervising, mentoring and assessing students and other health care staff
  • Experience of clinical or educational audit or research

Qualification and Professional Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse or Midwife or equivalent professional qualification e.g. HCPC registrant
  • First Level Degree/ Level 6 qualification or ability to complete within 2 years of appointment
  • Working towards or willingness to undertake relevant MSc or level 7 qualification
  • Evidence of developed resuscitation and clinical skills knowledge
  • Immediate Life Support ILS & Paediatric
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised post registration teaching qualification or equivalent experience
  • Resuscitation Instructor (RCUK) Qualification or willingness to work towards
  • Immediate Life Support (or equivalent) Provider or Instructor

  • Seen as local “expert” for Resuscitation Skills and act as the Trust representative where appropriate
