Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week (weekday and weekend shifts, days and nights) (part-time hours are available)

Salary: £29,970 - £36,483 per annum

Main duties of the job
- Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for a specified group of patients.
- Takes charge of the ward as delegated by the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse for a specified period of time.
- Acts as a Team Leader, delegating appropriate tasks and supervising the standard of care delivered by more junior qualified staff, unqualified staff and learner nurses in the ward team.
- Assists the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse in the management of preceptorship of newly qualifies staff, returning to nursing staff and the mentorship of nursing students and health care support workers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Undertake and documents a comprehensive, systematic and accurate nursing assessment of the physical social and spiritual needs of the patients where appropriate.
- Creates and utilizes opportunities to promote health and well-being of patients in their care.
- Leads a nursing team to manage a group of patients throughout a shift.
- Ensure that all staff working within the Policies, Procedures of the Trust in line with NMC Guidance
- Positive attitude to continuing professional education in order to enhance knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for safe and effective nursing practice.
- Maintaining standards by ensuring that evidenced based practice underpins all nursing inventions.
- Participate in Trust Appraisal system
- Liaises with Ward/Department Team, other Wards and Departments as appropriate to ensure patients receive optimum care.
