Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of quality care to patients under direct supervision of senior staff within the CRM. Participation in monitoring and the maintenance of standards and effective use of all available resources under direct supervision, whilst ensuring the highest possible standard of evidence-based care. The post holder will report to the Nurse Manager as required.

Please note this post is not suitable for applicants who are required to undertake the OSCE training programme. Applicants who do not have current valid UK NMC registration will not be considered for this post.

Main duties of the job

 

  1. Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct.  Will contribute to corporate activities, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times
  2. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate plans of individualised patient care as part of the MDT
  3. Provide pre and post treatment information for patients, written and verbal. Obtaining information consent and discussing emotional, ethical and legal issues
  4. Plan and co-ordinate treatment cycle
  5. Handling of patient telephone and email queries with support from senior nurses
  6. Undertake blood taking with senior support when require

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. Teach patients and relatives safe injection technique
  2. Provide theatre and recovery care to patients undergoing procedure
  3. Work towards a comprehensive training programme to become proficient in vaginal ultrasound scanning
  4. With training and supervision to carry out intra-uterine/donor insemination procedures
  5. Utilise and ensure others utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available
  6. Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g. imparting bad news or following an unexpected event
  7. Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust Policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards
  8. Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times
  9. Maintain accurate patient record systems recording programmes of treatment/care/interventions to form the basis of total patient care records for both in and outpatients in compliance with the HFEA Code of Practice
  10. Responsibility for maintaining compliance with mandatory training and professional development inclusive of revalidation.
