Job overview
Are you passionate about working with Children with Learning Disabilities and their families and carers. To support children with Moderate to severe learning disabilities and families by providing nursing assessments and interventions for those children with significant health needs and Behaviours that Challenge.
To work closely with multi-professional/multi-agency teams to provide a comprehensive, joined up service for children with learning disabilities and complex needs. We use the framework of positive Behaviour Support. We also engage families and carers in psychoeducation regarding their child’s needs. We have close links with schools in Coventry & Warwickshire.
The team cover Coventry & Warwickshire from a central base, you will also be required to work agile within the role with your own means of transport.
Main duties of the job
1. To hold a caseload independently and as part of the multi-disciplinary team, working with children with complex needs, To support the child’s physical wellbeing and mental wellbeing in order to provide holistic care, when assessing behaviours that challenge.
2. To undertake comprehensive and specific assessments of the children's and families' needs and in partnership, working with other disciplines/agencies.
3. To work as part of a team to coordinate the delivery of care.
4. To work in partnership with others, to assess and identify the child’s health needs, considering parenting capacity, environment as well as the child’s holistic needs.

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities/Registered Nurse Mental Health
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of and skills in assessment of children’s mental health needs and challenging behaviour within the family context
- Knowledge and skills in nursing interventions for children with mental health needs and challenging behaviour.
- Ability to co-ordinate the assessment, care planning and review processes for clients on caseload and to assist colleagues as appropriate
- Clinical Supervision skills and care management skills
- Must have knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance, e.g. Children Act, Child Protection Procedures, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Transforming Care, SEND, etc
- understanding of clinical governance
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Considerable post qualification experience of working with children with learning disabilities
- Experience of community and/or CAMHS nursing

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
