Job overview

Due to current post holder's retirement we have an exciting opportunity for an appropriately experienced nurse to come and join our service as our learning disability specialist nurse. 

 

Main duties of the job

The role is varied, the successful candidate will have PBS qualification (or working towards) and will offer support, supervision and consultation for other staff in our learning disability pathway. 

Senior clinical leadership of the pathway 

Supervision and live case support to colleagues 

Clinical audits and supporting upholding strong standards of clinical care for our learning disability patients and their parent/carers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Attendance at multi agency meetings including DSR, transition meetings and complex panels 

Providing PBS techniques and supporting other staff with embedding PBS approach 

Working with a small but complex caseload. 

Clinical supervision, audit and research. 

Managing and leading our learning disability pathway within the wider CYPS service. 

Being involved in service improvement work. 

Supporting the wider leadership team with incidents, complaints and after action reviews as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • First Level Qualification RMN/RMNH/RNLD
  • PBS qualification or currently working towards.
  • Mentorship qualification
  • If applicable to service Non Medical Prescriber

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Applicable transferable clinical experience at band 6 or above
  • Ability to manage competing demands and prioritise workload
  • Supervisory experience of junior colleagues and others
  • Demonstrable experience and skill in safeguarding/risk assessment and ensuring appropriate escalation
  • Experience of working alongside education settings
  • Experience of chairing and leading MDT meetings

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
  • De-escalation skills and ability to manage competing demands from across the system
