Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a pioneering new team within Occupational Health and Wellbeing Services. The vaccination team's goal is to improve health and wellbeing by increasing vaccination rates and coverage, thereby protecting people from preventable diseases. The post holder will work across Northumberland and North Tyneside, covering a 7 day working week. 

We pride ourselves in working flexibly to meet the needs of the service, as well as promoting a positive culture and work / life balance. 

A car driver is essential.

The base for this post will be North Tyneside General Hospital. 

Main duties of the job

The primary immunisation programme represents a key public health measure which contributes to the reduction of health inequalities and to the achievement of national and local health objectives.

The post holder will support with improving the uptake rate and safe delivery of a large-scale vaccination programme within hospital and community and educational settings contributing towards the public health agenda by improving health outcomes for staff and patients.

To work collaboratively with occupational health and wellbeing staff to deliver all pre-employment staff vaccinations and immunisation checks.

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables, and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Vaccination nurse work autonomously and as part of a team, to provide a high quality service to staff and patients. They will be responsible for ensuring appropriate client safety whilst adhering to policies and procedures. To provide information to staff and patients to enable them to access the vaccination programme through informed consent.

Essential criteria
  • 1st Level live NMC Registered Nurse
  • Awareness of national and local policy and guidance relating to Public Health mentor qualification
Desirable criteria
  • City & Guilds 730 teaching qualification or similar

Experience and Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of delivering vaccinations within hospitals and community settings
