An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Practitioner in Newcastle Early intervention in psychosis service (EIP) who have an interest in working with people with first episode psychosis. Applications are welcome from registered mental health nurses.
This is an opportunity to be a part of a very supportive team, where your contribution and development are highly valued. The successful applicants will work exclusively with individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis across Newcastle . Experience of working specifically with individuals experiencing psychosis would be desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided.
You will be able to work autonomously and will be willing and able to develop your skills and knowledge for this specialist role. You will be involved in completing holistic assessments and delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to people on your caseload. Care coordination is part of your role, however in EIP we aim to keep caseloads to a manageable level to enable our clinicians to focus on quality interventions and increased clinical contact, with an emphasis on recovery. The service is committed to developing the skills of practitioners, so there will be ongoing opportunities to develop further clinical skills and participate in research.

Working in the Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) team is an excellent opportunity for Care Coordinators to care and support a recovery focused journey for people who are experiencing their first psychotic experience. Our team works closely with the service users and their families over a of 3 year period, during this time we offer a range of therapeutic inventions to support their recovery and mental health needs. This allows care coordinators to develop or build on existing skills. Care Coordinators will work with service users in overcoming any difficulties that they might have, help develop understanding about symptoms, support the development of new ways of coping and aid daily living skills. Caseloads are capped to allow Care Coordinators the time needed to support services users and their families through this time limited experience. To be responsible for the Assessment and Management of casework of service users who have substantial and complex needs.

Qualification

- Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
- Mentor Training.
- Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
- Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
- Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
- Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.

Experience

- Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
- 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
