Job overview

We are looking for a permanent, full time community practitioner to join the North Cumbria Adult Autism Assessment Service.

We would love to hear from you if you are interested in working with adults  offering autism diagnostic assessment.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the assessment of service users who  may have substantial and complex needs.

To provide a safe supportive assessment and diagnostic process using evidence based approaches.

To have a good knowledge  base of autism and an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of individuals.

You will be required to maximise service user participation, devise reports and formulation.

You will prioritise workload and utilise the support of clinical and operational supervision.

Education and qualification

Essential criteria
  • Professional Qualification and current Professional Registration as, a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP, Social Worker or Clinical Psychologist
  • Mentor Training.
  • Evidence of post-registration training in clinical/ psychological interventions / skills relevant to the post.
  • Proven track record of post registration clinical experience relevant to the post.
  • Training in CPA (Care Programme Approach), Safeguarding, MAPPA (Multi Agency Panel for the Protection of Vulnerable Adults) and Child Protection.
  • Up-to-date knowledge/experience of relevant legislation.
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • 12 to 24 month band 5 qualified nurse experience dependent upon service need.
  • Awareness and understanding of professional accountability, NMC standards and other local and national initiatives.
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of managing difficult situations

Skills and competencies

Essential criteria
  • Ability to carry out and provide comprehensive assessments and the ability to work within a multi agency approach.
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Management / Safety Planning skills.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective & appropriate treatment options including a range of evidence based clinical approaches as identified in N.I.C.E. Guidance).
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
