An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Band 7 Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team at Singleton Breast Care Unit.

The successful candidate will manage an independent caseload of patients undergoing breast investigations and those who progress onto the Breast Cancer pathway.  The post holder shall be working collaboratively with a range of health-care providers providing care and support for patients in the clinic setting providing an efficient and effective diagnostic service.

Main duties of the job

As part of the role you will be required to take part in clinical audit, research and continue to update your practice through evidence-based study and training.  The post will require you to use relevant I.T systems so I.T skills is advantageous.

The post holder must be able to communicate effectively, sensitively, and compassionately with often distressed patients and their families, when discussing cancer diagnosis and treatment. Clinical supervision is offered to all staff to support them with the psychological impact of the role.

It is essential for the applicant to have completed or in the process of completing the ENB A11 or Principles of Breast Care Practice.

The role requires a flexible approach to work, commitment, and the ability to prioritise your workload and work with the wider multidisciplinary team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse and current NMC Registration
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience Specialist qualifications Expert level of knowledge in clinical speciality
  • Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers
  • Knowledge of service improvement
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Management qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Advanced clinical skills
  • Non-medical Prescribing (v300)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in the relevant specialty
  • Experience of working in a multi-professional environment
  • Experience of managing a ward/area/department
  • Experience of working with pre-registration nursing/midwifery students in a mentorship role
  • Experience of undertaking audit
