Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurse/ODP to become Theatre Matron leading our dynamic Theatre Team at the newly expanded NPT Theatres within SBUHB.
We are seeking a compassionate leader who can drive excellence in patient care and support our dedicated Theatre Teams. You need to be passionate about making a difference and leading our teams with empathy.
Main duties of the job
The Theatre Matron is responsible for the Theatre Suite at Neath Port Talbot Hospital within NPTSSG. The quality of the Health Boards clinical care and the safety of its patients are fundamental to its excellence and the Matron is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of evidence based, safe and effective nursing, infection prevention, safeguarding and patient flow standards within their defined area of responsibility.
The role will provide direct leadership to ensure that the ward / department managers are able to implement the nursing and quality strategy and person-centred approaches to care, to deliver a nursing service that prioritise the care needs of patients and their families to enable a positive experience for patients and their families/cares. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day management of ward managers within their areas of responsibility in line with the Health Board’s values and behaviour framework of caring for each other, working together and always improving.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse Level 1 or ODP (active NMC/HCPC Registration)
- Recognised Management Qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience at Band 7
- Improving Quality Together (IQT Bronze)
- Experience of Staff and Service management
Desirable criteria
- Improving Quality Together (IQT Silver)
- Experience of leading a Service improvement/change
