Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at the Neuro Rehabilitation Unit based at Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The Neuro Rehabilitation unit provides specialist care to the patients who have complex neurological and neuro rehabilitation needs. The registered nurse will be a key member of the Multi-disciplinary team. The postholder will provide direct nursing care to patients. Ensuring the highest standards are maintained, that practice is evidence based. They will supervise, support and delegate work appropriately to health care support workers and student nurses. They will advocate for patients and their relatives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be a kind and compassionate nurse. Assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participating in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.

Promote excellence and improve standards of nursing care by being involved in audit within the clinical area e.g. infection control audits.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • NMC registered
  • Clear understanding of consent process
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of post registration study and training, e.g. POVA Child Protection Intermediate Life Support if required in clinical setting

  • Ability to document details clearly and accurately and have IT skills
  • Clear understanding of contract of care
  • Abilities required to perform and communicate effectively in the role
