Job overview
We are looking for a well-organised, motivated and enthusiastic clinician to join our team. The role of Band 6 sister requires a dynamic forward thinking nurse, to help further develop the team, whilst delivering exceptional levels of care and family support.
You will require excellent organisational, communication and team working and the ability to support and deliver paediatric care with effective leadership and management skills.
As a Band 6 you will support the ward day to day responsibilities and will be involved in implementation of policies, protocols and procedures to ensure Trust and national standards are met. You will be required to support and develop the junior members of the clinical team and offer support to the Band 7. Whilst previous experience is welcome, training and development will be provided.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to work within an integrated children’s service providing care to children and their families on a general Paediatric Ward. The ward offers a wide range of experience, caring for children and young people with a range of medical and surgical conditions.
The ward consists of 29 beds including a 5 bedded Level 1 HDU and designated teenage beds. There is also an 8 bedded Paediatric Assessment Unit attached.

Pre- registration student nurse placements and a preceptor ship programme for newly qualified nurses are supported within the clinical area.

Experience

- Significant post registration experience in an acute setting
- Substantial experience on an acute surgical ward

- Experience of leading a team
Skills & Knowledge

- IV trained
- Central line trained
Desirable criteria
- Cannulation & venepuncture
