NHS AfC: Band 7

Would you like to work in an organisation that sits in the top 10 best NHS Mental Health, Learning Disability and Community Services Trust  to work for.  This ranking is based on staff feedback in the 2023 NHS Staff Survey.

Job overview

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for either a Band 7 Clinical or Counselling Psychologist or a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist to join our Trust-wide Adult Eating Disorders Service (AEDS). The post is substantive (1.0 WTE) and the successful applicant will be joining what are established outpatient and day care multi-disciplinary community services for adults with moderate to severe eating disorders. They will be joining a warm and welcoming team with a passion for the delivery of high-quality care. Prior experience of working with adults with moderate to severe eating disorder presentations is desirable and a keen interest in working in the specialism is essential.

The post holder will initially contribute to the delivery of service provision for the existing pre-assessment waiting list. This is with a view to ensuring soon access to assessment and evidence based psychological therapy, with an especial emphasis on the provision of CBT-E in both individual and adapted group formats. The post holder will receive supervision and support from a senior Psychologist (with BABCP Accreditation if required) and will work closely with AEDS psychological therapies team.

The post holder will be responsible for providing or contributing to the clinical supervision of Trainee Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists; this is, with support provided to assist in the development of these supervision skills.

Main duties of the job

Over time, with the implementation of the AEDS transformation, the anticipation is that this role will evolve; this is with the post holder being asked to contribute to other clinical pathways within AEDS in line with their clinical competencies and therapy qualifications.

The post holder will be expected to carry out comprehensive assessments and formulations and plan, implement and evaluate the delivery of their psychological interventions. They will additionally be required to contribute to the work and functioning of the multi-disciplinary team, where appropriate.

Applicants must be registered as Practitioner Psychologists with the HCPC and / or have BABCP Accreditation. With regards to the latter, the expectation is that the applicant will also have experience working in NHS mental health settings. Training and experience in the delivery of NICE concordant psychological therapies for adults with eating disorders (e.g., CBT-ED and MANTRA) is additionally desirable, but not essential as training will be sought for the successful applicant as might be needed.

The successful applicant will be able to drive a car and will have the use of a car during working hours. This is due to the requirement to sometimes travel between the AEDS bases (in Guildford and Epsom), and occasionally also to other Trust sites.
