Job overview
To ensure the service operates in a safe, effective & efficient way as part of the whole system of mental health services.
To support strategic leadership in relation to service improvement and quality evaluation.
To oversee and manage a service dedicated to individuals residing in their own homes and care homes with functional and organic diseases or a combination of both
The Community Mental Health Team for Older People offers comprehensive mental health support and treatment to people who present with mental health and/or memory problems.
The clinical Lead’s post and other Band 7 Clinical Leads will need to cover for each other as needed, such as annual leave, training or sick leave.
The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical and managerial supervision to Band 6 clinical staff and junior staff, where appropriate.
The post holder will provide specialist mental health advice and education to primary care colleagues.
The post holder will provide holistic, autonomous care and maintain communication with primary care professionals and other professionals and agencies through regular informal and formal meetings.
The post holder will be responsible for care coordinating a caseload of people presenting with complex mental health needs.
They will undertake initial assessments on those presenting with more complex needs and be responsible for the development and delivery of care plans to meet any identified needs.

Establish and embed a senior leadership team function for the service.
Responsible for developing and implementing strategies that promote an environment of involvement and recovery.
Ensure that the agenda of social inclusion is reflected in interventions offered and implemented.
Responsible for the development of a high-quality service
Lead & motivate staff to provide a pro-active and responsive high-quality service, contributing to ongoing audit and evaluation.
Ensure that the necessary systems & protocols for the delivery of a safe & supportive service are in place, understood & adhered to throughout the Service.
Ensure that effective communications systems are established, maintained and monitored regularly within the Service & between the Teams & other services/agencies/partners.
Provide line management, for staff within the Service.
Ensure arrangements are in place for all service members to receive regular supervision, appraisal and have their personal development plans and training needs identified and where possible met.
Access and use information contained within the Trust’s patient based information systems.
Lead and be responsible for ensuring that they and all team members fulfil our duties regarding Safeguarding Adults.

Experience of supervision of band 3/4/5 nurses
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 2 years experience of supervising nurses and Associate Practitioners
Desirable criteria
- Attended leadership training
Suitable degree in mental health nursing
