Job overview

An exciting and unexpected opportunity to cover maternity leave has arisen within the maternity service at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.  The role is for the Frimley Park site and is key to the leadership and development of the maternity service and gynaecology nursing service within the trust.

It is an opportunity for a senior midwife with the relevant experience as set out in the job description and person specification to develop their skills and knowledge for 7 months and widen their portfolio. This can be a secondment or fixed term contract with the ability to start in the post on 1st October 2024.

The role is pivotal within the maternity and gynaecology nursing service  and involves building relationships across multi professionals and key stakeholders with the trust, Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and regionally across the South East Coast.

Main duties of the job

The role is a senior leader with professional responsibility for the maternity service and gynaecology nursing service at Frimley Park Hospital, and joint responsibility with the head of midwifery at the Wexham park hospital for gynaecology nursing services at Heatherwood Hospital.

The role includes responsibility for the strategic direction, overall provision and management of the Maternity services within the acute and community settings.

The post holder will deputise for the director of midwifery when required and will provide expert advice to the chief nurse, chief of service, Trust Board, associate  director, and Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) on professional midwifery issues.
