Job overview
As a junior sister in Parkside outpatients you are expected to be an experienced nurse and have previous outpatient experience.
You will be clinical on the department for the majority of your working week with some administrative time allocated for you to complete delegated tasks including off duty and audits.
You will be responsible for supporting our junior team and expected to assist consultants with their clinics including procedure lists.
You will be well organised with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Main duties of the job
- Organisation of the department day to day
- Reviewing skill mix to ensure clinics are appropriately covered and capacity is utilised to the fullest
- Completing off duty
- Stock ordering
- Wound reviews (including Removal of sutures/clips)
- Phlebotomy
- IM Injections
- Cystoscopies and bladder instillations
- Assisting with minor procedures

Desirable criteria
- Management module
- Mentorship
Clinical experience
Essential criteria
- Previous outpatient experience
- Has worked a minimum of 2 years at band 5 in an acute nhs trust
- Bladder scans; Venepuncture; ECG’s; IM Injections
- Catheterisation
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in ENT/Eye and Dermatology Clinics
- Uroflows
- Minor operations in a outpatient setting
- Competent teaching ISC
- Competent using EPIC
Management experience
Essential criteria
- Well organised with excellent communication skills
- Confident completing appraisals
- Able to review skill mix and complete off duty to maximise the effectiveness of the team
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience as a band 6
- Private patient experience

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
