Endoscopy/Day Case

The Endoscopy/ Day case  Units at St Helier need you!

We provide a full range of  Endoscopy diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for 16,000 patients per year. We also provide Day Case facilities for a number of varied surgical specialities.

The service is usually provided Monday to Friday although some work on Saturdays will be required as part of your normal working week. This will be a great opportunity for an enthusiastic staff nurse who wish to be part of this growing speciality.

Previous experience and knowledge of Endoscopy  or day case is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

Principal Duties

The post holder is responsible for providing specialised care to meet the needs of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.  To work as part of a team adhering to national and local policies, guidelines and procedures.

Maintenance of high standards of care and safe practice within the endoscopy suite for patients undergoing procedures, with appropriate documentation of care.

Autonomous practice to the NMC code of professional practice

Essential criteria
  • RGN Level 1/2 or relevant section of the register
  • Demonstrates evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Phlebotomy and cannulation experience

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates evidence of ability to educate others
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Audit and Research
  • Experience on general surgical ward/day case or theatre
  • Endoscopy experience
