Lead Midwife for Triage/MDAU

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic midwife to work as the Lead midwife for MDAU and triage at West Suffolk Hospital on a job share basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a midwife with strong clinical leadership skills and a passion for fast paced maternity care to gain ward management experience. The post holder will be committed to supporting implementation of national improvement initiatives, be organised and able to motivate a team.

 

The post holder must have a high level of skill and respond well to change, contributing to shaping our future service and staff. The midwife must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be a caring and compassionate individual focused on providing excellent quality care, working within the values held by West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be job sharing with the current post holder, both working on a part time basis. You will need to be able to work collaboratively together to ensure the service is run to a safe and high standard.

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will 

1.     Lead and manage the Triage and Maternity Day Assessment Unit and team to deliver best practice services to women and their babies.

 

2.     Link with other service areas to ensure standards of care are in line with the specialist clinical needs for patients which promote a clinical area that is a positive area for staff experience.

 

3.     Manage the resources effectively, including the team members and the quality standards.

 

4.     Deliver direct patient care, acting as an expert practitioner and a role model to the whole team.

 

5.     Liaise with all health professionals and support staff to ensure patients receive the best services possible.

 

6.     Assist in establishing and monitoring protocols / care pathways.

 

7.     Ensure that an effective nationally recognised triage system and documentation is used to maintain safe care

 

8.     To assist with the day-to-day management of women who have risk factors in conjunction with the Obstetricians.

 

9.     Organise investigations, follow up results, liaise with tertiary centres and initiate as appropriate.
