An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time (37.5 hours) Band 2/3 Nursing Assistant to join our Outpatients team sitting under the umbrella of Clinical Support to provide 12 months maternity cover. You will be assisting Dr`s and specialist nursing teams with the smooth running of the Outpatient clinics.  We are looking for dynamic and highly motivated individuals to join a team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff members who strive to deliver care of the highest quality.

The Outpatients department can offer opportunities to learn and develop skills in a wide range of different medical and surgical specialities. The successful candidate will need to have good communication skills with a flexible approach to working.

 

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a drive to promote a high standard of care for our patients. This post covers our West Suffolk Hospital site as well as clinics in our satellite sites at Thetford, Haverhill, Newmarket and Sudbury.

Adult and paediatric community services, provided in collaboration with West Suffolk Alliance partners, include a range of nursing, therapy, specialist, and ongoing temporary care and rehabilitation, some at our Newmarket Community Hospital.

Please note that Certificate of Sponsorship is not available for this role as it does not meet the minimum salary requirements for the health and care visa (which is a sub category of the skilled worker visa). Currently the salary requirement is £23’200 per annum for the health and care or £38’700 per annum for the skilled worker route.

The starting salary for this position is £22,383 whilst training.

If you are currently sponsored by an employer you must work for your employer full time. Any additional work is restricted to 20 hpw and the minimum contract for this post is 23 hpw due to training needs.

Education and qualifications

  • Holds National Care Certificate or be willing to undertake and complete within 12 weeks or starting

  • National Care Certificate holder
  • Functional skills level 1 Maths and English or GCSE equivalent
  • Previous experience of being a Health Care Support Worker in outpatients.

Experience and knowledge

  • Experience working in a healthcare, social care organisation/setting or service industry requiring people contact.
  • Ability to work with staff from a diverse range of backgrounds

  • Experience of working within a health care environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-agency team
  • Demonstrate through previous experience the ability to escalate concerns
  • To demonstrate a range of procedures and practices, base level of theoretical knowledge
  • Ability to work alone or in small team

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Effective use of electronic solutions to support the delivery of patient care.
  • Able to work as a team.
  • Able to carry out well defined routine tasks.
  • Able to work on own initiative, following direction/supervision by a Registered Healthcare Practitioner.
  • Able to relate well with patients/relatives/visitors/ Colleagues/the multi-disciplinary team and wider Trust staff.
