Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses to come and join our Cardiac team.

The Cardiac Centre comprises of a CCU (Cardiac Care Unit) , Cardiac Ward and Catheterisation Lab, (where diagnostic angiograms are performed and pacemakers inserted) and a Recovery area.

The ward has 22 beds with 7 of these having bedside monitors. The Cardiac ward is also responsible for providing and monitoring patients on Telemetry across the Trust.

 

The Band 5 posts will provide an opportunity for the successful candidates to rotate through the various areas enabling them to develop a range of skills and experiences.

 

Although previous cardiology or scrub nurse experience would be an advantage, we welcome applicants from those with an interest in cardiology who are willing to develop and take on new skills.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a passionate staff nurse to join our team.

The cardiac ward looks after patients with a variety of different cardiac conditions.

 

The role will include taking responsibility for the safe and effective delivery of care for a number of patients supported by the ward senior team.

STAFF CAR PARKING

 

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 – 18:30.

 

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital.  Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

 

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete “on call” duties within their role.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registration.
  • Interest in ongoing professional development.
  • BLS.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Recognised post-registration cardiac course or willing to undertake.
  • Teaching qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent.
  • ILS.

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Acute general nursing experience.
  • Interest and insight into cardiac nursing.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous theatre/scrub nurse work.
  • Previous Cardiology nursing experience.

Personal qualities

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of good attendance and time keeping and attendance.

  • Organisational skills.

  • Committed to delivering a high-quality service.
