Job overview

The Parkinson’s service has a great opportunity for a passionate candidate to join our team. We are looking for someone who is organised, professional and motivated to provide excellent patient care. We have 1 Full Time permanent position available within our community service.

 

This is a perfect environment to have supported learning and development in Parkinson’s care and Neurology. You will be supported in a well established team, with excellent working relationships with the multidisciplinary teams.

 

We currently have two Parkinson’s Nurses and five Neurologists, as well as two Epilepsy Nurses and three Neurology Nurses within the department.

 

We work closely with multi- disciplinary teams, some of these being Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists as well as those from external sites.

 

You will be joining a team who is passionate in providing patients with the best possible experience in the management of their Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Parkinson’s disease, you will be a valued member of the team, providing high quality care to patients in a professional and compassionate manner.

 

 You will be joining an experienced team who strive to provide excellent patient care whilst promoting best practice. The role will mainly cover care in the community, including nurse led clinics and home visits, therefore a valid UK driving license and access to a car is necessary for the post.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 1st Level Registered Nurse Educated to degree level or working towards
  • ENB 998/equivalent
  • Educated to degree level or working towards
Desirable criteria
  • Parkinson’s Disease speciality nursing qualification or willingness to undertake
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within Neurology and with Parkinson’s patients. Initiation and evaluation of research based practice.
  • Commitment to undertake further specialist training.
  • Clinical knowledge of current developments in NSF for long term conditions.
  • Knowledge of change management processes.
  • Ability to develop nursing excellence and clinical practice.
  • Initiation and evaluation of research based practice.
