Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a enthusiastic and dynamic Band 5 Nurse to join our Nurse Led Pre-operative Assessment team.

You will be flexible, committed to maintaining and improving high standards of patient care and experience. We assess elective patients from multiple specialties to ensure that they are safe and fully optimised for General anaesthetic.

The purpose of this role is to provide comprehensive preoperative clinical assessment, as well as detailed advice and counselling for surgical patients and their carers.

The post holder will act as a junior team member, supported by senior colleagues whilst developing skills specific to the preoperative care environment.

Main duties of the job

Undertaking virtual and face-to-face assessment of patients. We are looking for motivated individuals with a keen interest in digitalisation of patient pathways.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Role of the Staff Nurse within the PreAMS Department is to support the Service Lead and Directorate Management team in the delivery of the Service Level Agreement for anaesthetics and theatres.
The Staff Nurse works closely with the clinical team in the delivery of evidence based practice; ensuring patients receive safe and effective patient care to meet the Directorate & Trust safety agenda and matching parent and family expectations.
The Nursing team work in close partnership with the Consultants and Nurse Practitioners to ensure all patients receive a quality service when accessing the Service and will develop new Patient pathways, PGD’s guidelines and policies to support this working with the Lead
