Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a caring and compassionate Advanced Clinical Practitioner/Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our team working in our forensic low secure inpatient services based at the St Georges site.  

We are seeking applications from first level registered nurses who have successfully completed or are willing to work towards an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice and will ideally be able to demonstrate knowledge of working in a mental health setting.

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner you be working with service users with a range of complex physical and mental health needs. You will be part of a Multidisciplinary team providing care to service users on Ellesmere ward (Low secure male LD/mental health/neurodivergence ward).

As an ACP/TACP you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and senior clinical leads and other ACP’s in the development of Advanced clinical practice across the service and in the delivery of high standards of safe and quality care

The successful candidate will work as an autonomous practitioner, utilising advanced knowledge, skills and expertise in relation to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of a range of physical health and mental health conditions.

This exciting opportunity supports working within the four pillars of advanced practice: - education, clinical practice, leadership and research. 

Main duties of the job

Advanced clinical practice is delivered by experienced, registered health and care practitioners. It is a level of practice characterised by a high degree of autonomy and complex decision making. This is underpinned by a master’s level award or equivalent that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will therefore be required to embody the ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers. This will include the analysis and synthesis of complex problems across a range of settings, enabling innovative solutions to enhance people’s experience and improve outcomes.

Advanced nurse practitioners are highly experienced and educated members of the care team who are able to diagnose and treat conditions and refer onwards to appropriate specialists if needed.

As such the ACP on willow will be expected to:

Hold an appropriate Masters level award with appropriate modules in Advanced Health Assessment and in Non-Medical Prescribing or willing to work towards this.

Essential criteria
  • Professional regulated core qualification with the NMC/ HCPC as a registered adult nurse
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or willing to work towards this award as a essential expectation.
  • Post graduate qualification in NMP and Advanced Health Assessment
  • Relevant Master level qualification – Advanced Clinical practice or willing to work towards this as a TACP
Desirable criteria
  • Qualifications in Project Management and/or Quality improvement
  • Mental health/LD post graduate qualification
  • Clinical Supervision qualification
  • Mentorship/ teaching qualification

EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Experience of developing clinical pathways and intervention plans
  • Experience in teaching/ clinically supervising junior staff.
  • Experience of leading/managing a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of leading on a series of audits, action plans and projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in assessing, formulating and managing risk for people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties/LD/neurodivergent
  • Experience in clinically leading staff groups
  • Experience in developing and adapting systems and processes to meet the needs of the individual and the service Experience of clinically leading a team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of service development and transformation
