Team Leader for School Aged Immunisation Service Staffordshire and Stoke On Trent (SAIS)

The SAIS is a Trust-wide service that provides vaccinations to the school-aged population in Staffordshire & Stoke on Trent. The service operates year-round, with the majority of vaccinations being administered in schools during term time. Including HPV, DTP, Men ACWY from January to August, followed by Flu vaccinations from September to January.

We are excited to offer this secondment opportunity, we are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Operational Team Leader eager to share and enhance their skills. 

Responsibilities include:

- Day-to-day operational management and service delivery within the multi-disciplinary team.
- Ensuring performance meets designated trust standards, including clinical, key performance indicators, and financial management targets.
- Managing staff within the team, providing leadership, management supervision, and ensuring appropriate clinical/professional supervision.

This is an outstanding career development opportunity. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Band 7 Programme & Quality Lead to ensure the effective delivery of the immunisation program.

The base for this post is Rising Brook Surgery, Stafford, ST17 9LY however there will be a need for regular travel Trust wide.

Main duties of the job

-Ensure the safe delivery of The National  Childhood/ Adolescent Immunisation Program  within Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent. 

- Managing staff within the team, providing leadership, management supervision, and ensuring appropriate clinical/professional supervision.

-Ensuring performance meets designated trust standards, including clinical, key performance indicators, and financial management targets.

- Day-to-day operational management and service delivery within the multi-disciplinary team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Ensure adherence to the following workforce training requirements:

Regularly supervise and appraise all staff within the team to identify training needs that align with the Workforce Development plan.

Ensure team members comply with Statutory and Mandatory training.
Assess and plan the team’s training needs in accordance with the Workforce Development plan, coordinating with the Training Department as needed. Guarantee that training and development opportunities are equitably offered and attended by all team members.

Ensure team members attend scheduled training and address any unauthorized absences.

Conduct regular team meetings to consult with staff and inform them of changes that affect their work practices.

Ensure new team members are properly integrated into the team and complete corporate induction alongside any local induction. Guarantee a one-to-one meeting with new members within one month and again at three months after starting.

Act as the first point of contact for patient or service user complaints and inquiries, conducting investigations when necessary. Use appropriate communication methods with tact and diplomacy, involving external agencies when language barriers arise.

Engage with the community to discuss the quality and effectiveness of health and social care services, taking decisive action to address and improve any identified shortcomings, whether individual, systemic, or procedural, within the team.

Exhibit people management skills that demonstrate compassionate and appreciative leadership.

Stand in for the Service Manager when required, and provide support to the Programme & Quality Lead as needed.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: 

Degree level professional qualification health registration with NMC
Evidence of management/leadership training
Experience of managing a team in a NHS or Social care environment, including experience of:
- Risk Management
- Staff Management
- Budget Management
- Performance Management
- Capacity and activity planning
Experience of implementing innovative solutions within a team environment.
