Key Responsibilities: As a Band 6 Mental Health Nurse, you'll be the crucial link during night shifts, assessing mental health referrals and providing support primarily through telephone consultations. Your expertise will guide individuals through their mental health challenges.

The Band 6 Mental Health Nurse has a crucial role in processing, assessing and determine the mental health and social care needs of a person referred to determine their ongoing needs and facilitation of service provision.  In addition the role will require excellent risk assessment and management skills in relation to and positive risk taking and decision making to enable safe and effective responses for an identified client group, largely by telephone/assessment. 

You will participate in the delivery of the agreed aims and objectives of the service and identify factors which may inhibit these from being achieved. They will assist in the delivery of a high standard of Mental Health care to service users referred to the service. They will implement agreed systems for the monitoring of effectiveness of care. They will participate in the education and management of junior staff.

Person Specification: We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual with the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Qualifications: Registered Mental Health Nurse.
  • Clinical Expertise: Proven experience in conducting mental health assessments, risk assessments, and providing support primarily through telephone consultations.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and empathetic manner.
  • Decision-Making: Strong decision-making skills, including positive risk-taking, and the ability to make effective and timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Collaboration: A team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to flexible night shift patterns, demonstrating resilience and a proactive approach to challenges.
