Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse who is currently working within a urology setting and who possesses excellent leadership skills and PROUD behaviours, to support the Urology Reconstruction Team.
This role will require the right candidate to deliver high quality care in the assessment and treatment of individuals with complex urological needs.
The successful candidate will be supported through a developmental framework to become an autonomous CNS within the integrated multi-professional team.
Successful applicants will be motivated, flexible, have excellent organisational and communication skills and will be committed to this complex patient group.
Main duties of the job
To deliver high quality patient care, acting as a role model for nursing practice across the specialty and Trust.
Act as a specialist resource and independent practitioner managing a defined caseload of patients within the agreed scope of practice and taking responsibility for continuity of care. This will include assessing patients and providing advice to others involved in their care.
Participate in nurse-led care to clinically assess, examine, diagnose, plan and evaluate treatment/interventions and care for patients presenting with a urological condition including transitional care patients.
Following extensive training and supervision, undertake procedures and treatments independently, specifically flexible cystoscopy and Botox administration.
Undertake investigations and procedures to assist with treatments and diagnosis of urological conditions under supervision of the Lead CNS or Lead Clinician i.e. assistance with neuromodulation.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse (valid with NMC)
- Demonstration of Management / Leadership skills and aptitude
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Relevant 1st degree or equivalent or working towards
Desirable criteria
- Certificate in urodynamics or willing to complete.
- Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or willing to work towards.
- Attendance of pelvic floor assessment exercise training.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience in an acute hospital setting
- Evidence of promoting high quality clinical practice.
- Demonstrates up to date knowledge / experience within the Urology pathway
- Evidence of setting, implementing and audit of clinical standards.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to work under own initiative and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience of change management.
- Experience of undertaking nurse led cystoscopy or willing to work towards.
- Knowledge and experience of transitional care. Knowledge of neuromodulation in urology.
Skills and Knowledge
