Job overview

Do you want to be part of a team working with young people with complex neurodevelopmental needs within our Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) team?

The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team  providing support for the post diagnostic assessment and treatment of children and young people with ADHD and their families.

The appointed clinician will also need to have an interest in being part of a team providing innovative evidence based interventions.

Training will be provided but an enthusiasm and interest in working with neurodiverse young people is  essential.  Experience of working in individual and group settings is advantageous.

You must able to demonstrate an ability to maintain a high standard of patient care, the applicant must also have a high standard of record keeping; demonstrate effective service user and multi-agency engagement within the assessment/consultation process and provide a collaborative approach to multi-agency formulation and care planning.

You will have:-

  • A high level of enthusiasm and dedication to providing quality, community based mental health services to children, young people and their families
  • Access to transport or have the ability to travel to a variety of venues as part of the working day
  • Be able to work autonomously and within an MDT.
  • Experience of working under pressure and in a demanding environment.
  • To have the skill to adapt and the flexibility to think on your feet due to the nature of your role

Main duties of the job

To work as an integral member of the multidisciplinary Neurodevelopment Service. To work within the ADHD Clinic under the supervision of the ADHD Clinical Nurse Specialist. To be responsible for carrying an agreed case load as a band 5 ADHD Practitioner providing specialist therapeutic interventions for children and young people with mental health problems and their families, in all settings Co-deliver workshops to groups of parents relevant to service delivery.

  1. Carry out comprehensive assessments of young people referred to the post diagnostic ADHD Pathway
  2. Work with an agreed caseload of young people
  3. Co-deliver workshops to groups of parents and professionals
  4. Provide consultation and advice support to professional in the community
  5. Assist within the ADHD medication clinic.
  6. Be responsible for managing and prioritising own workload, and reviewing this on a regular basis with the ADHD Clinical Nurse Specialist.
  7. Develop therapeutic relationships with young people and families whilst providing clinical interventions where behaviours are often challenging, confrontational and resistant to positive change

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RMN, RN (MH Branch) , Learning Disabilities, Social worker, Occupational Therapist, Registered with a professional body, qualified EMHP or Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner
  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex mental health and behavioural needs
  • Understanding of ADHD
