Job overview

Primary Care Doncaster Ltd is developing a wide range of services to support general practice across the city and is looking at innovative ways to develop its workforce. We are looking to recruit a Nursing Associate who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a patient-facing role in the Doncaster Primary Care Networks. Doncaster has six Primary Care Networks; Central, East, North, North West,  South and 4Doncaster.

This post will be based working at The Flying Scotsman within the Central Primary Care Network, and may involve working at other Practices across the Primary Care Network.

Main duties of the job

You should have completed a Nursing Associate Degree with an approved provider and be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Nursing Associate. Previous experience in a Primary Care setting would be an advantage.

You will undertake various duties including;

  • Monitoring and support of the management of patients with long-term conditions / chronic diseases, using a holistic patient centred approach
  • Support patients to improve and maintain their mental and physical health and wellbeing
  • Provide support and supervision to training nursing associates, healthcare assistants, apprentices, and those on learning assignments/placements as required
  • Advise patients on general healthcare, promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to relevant healthcare services
  • Perform and record clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, respirations, and pulse; For example, as set out in the NMC Standards for Nursing Associates

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This is an exciting new role, within a Primary Care setting, where you will be using your skills to support and complement our existing team of clinicians, providing and monitoring patient centred care, across the patient population. You will be a Registered Nursing Associate, who is motivated, proactive, committed and with excellent communication skills. You will work independently under the leadership of our Registered Nurses, supporting with all aspects of nursing care and improving on the safety and quality of patient care at every opportunity.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registration as a Nursing Associate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • Nursing Associate Foundation Degree or equivalent
  • GCSE Grade 4-9 (A-C) in Maths & English or Function Skills Level 2 or equivalent
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working independently under own direction or as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in a patient focused environment
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a primary care environment

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
  • Ability to deal with non- routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact
  • Verbal, written, interpersonal skills, prioritising workloads, problem solving, relationship management
  • Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model to nursing associate students, other learners and health care support workers as required within the clinical setting

  • Awareness of current developments and initiatives in primary care
