Paediatric Practice Development Nurse
Band 6
Job overview
The paediatric team have an exciting opportunity for a practice development nurse to join the team. The post holder will be expected to work across both Bassetlaw and Doncaster hospital sites supporting all paediatric areas. They will work closely with the paediatric clinical educators and ward managers to support the development of staff.
Main duties of the job
Create an environment where the children, young people and their families are central to all decision making. To ensure the delivery of high quality compassionate care is everybody's prime objective. To support paediatric nursing staff to maintain and improve standards of patient care and research based care.
Working alongside and in partnership with the Ward Managers and Paediatric Clinical Educator, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating new initiatives, standards, benchmarks and research based nursing care. This includes acting as an expert resource for the unit team and the wider MDT; to support them in the delivery of high quality patient centred care.

Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- At least five years post registration experience
- Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
- Specialist paediatric knowledge underpinned by theory and experience
- Can demonstrate up to date working knowledge of Paediatric policies, procedures and working practices.
Desirable criteria
- Participation in audit
- Experience of leading service development and review
- Completion of EPALS course
- Can demonstrate understanding of the work of the Critical Care Operational Delivery Network
Qualifications/ Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Children's Nurse
- Mentorship qualification (or equivalent or equivalent experience)
- Experience of teaching and mentoring (or equivalent or equivalent experience)
Desirable criteria
- Degree/masters level study
- QI experience/training
- Competent in delivering CPAP/High Flow, Cannulation and venepuncture

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
