We are looking for a Band 6 Clinical Practitioner - Eating Disorders, to join the North Somerset CAMHS Eating Disorder Team.

The team is a rated by its staff as very supportive and offers good development opportunities and has strong historic links to Exeter University.

You will be working in North Somerset, with Bases at The Barn Clevedon and in Weston Super Mare.  This post entails travelling to meet the requirements of the role, therefore a driving license and access to a car is essential.

You will be working with CYP with a range of eating difficulties and other comorbidities due to their eating.  Our aim is to support young people, alongside their families and carers, to recover. 

The Eating Disorder Team in North Somerset is a small team  including Band 8a Family Therapy Practitioner, , Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioners, Band 6 Mental Health Practitioners and Band 4 Assistant Psychologist. There are clear lines of clinical and managerial supervision.

Your role will be to offer Triage, assessment and Treatment of supporting young people  & families/ carers with a range of eating disorders and co-morbidities.

The Team has a range of treatment offers including group based training alongside family therapy and individual treatments.

You will be working alongside Core CAMHS clinicians, the ED Home Treatment Team, and the medical team at The Seashore Centre

The North Somerset CAMHS ED  team is a busy thriving  CAMHS team that is passionate about delivering highly effective and accessible services  to the young  people and families of North Somerset. 
The team is a well established multi disciplinary team offering evidence based interventions. The team are a diverse team and are committed to staff development and staff well being with excellent supervision and CPD opportunities.  We offer established specialist clinics such as family therapy,  specialist  eating disorder clinics  alongside staff working autonomously holding their own caseload. We have regular reflective groups and process groups to support with the clinical work.

The Post Holder will be a member of the Eating Disorder Team and will be able to manage complexity and risk as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will be part of a duty system and undertake specialist assessments on behalf of the multidisciplinary team, incorporating different models of understanding of the young person’s difficulties and reflecting the team’s multi-modal approach to Eating Disorder interventions.

The post holder will be part of physical health clinics with the support and consultation of medical staff as required

The post holder  will participate in provision of and provide psycho-education and therapy to identified patients, as well as short-term therapy (individual, family, groups) to patients presenting with sub-threshold disorders.  He/she will also contribute towards family based treatment for Eating Disorders and other evidence based treatments.

The post holder will contribute to the care of complex cases, attending to risk and arranging network/professional reviews where clinically appropriate.  This will include liaison with other appropriate services when required.

To use routine outcome measures (ROMS) to evaluate treatment and gain feedback from Young people and their carers.

Participate in the running of therapeutic groups/workshops

  • • RMN qualification or other relevant qualification ie social work, psychology, psychotherapy or IAPT post grad Dip in CBT.
  • • Experience of working with young people with mental health difficulties
  • • Experience of using assessment skills especially in determining the nature and severity of mental illness/health in children and young people.
