Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) or Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join the RUH gynaecological oncology team. The RUH gynaecological oncology team is driven to deliver excellent patient care and performs consistently well in national audits and outcome measures. We are looking to recruit the right individual to join our cohesive and high performing team delivering great patient care. The core roles and responsibilities of the post can be accomplished by either an ACP or SCP with the appropriate training. The role is pivotal in ensuring that patients presenting with gynaecology cancers have timely access to the high-quality assessment, investigations and treatment that they require. The appointee would join the existing ACP in providing first line and follow up gynaecological assessments for patient with suspected cancer as well as assisting in the surgical treatment of these patients.

  • Performing the perfusion for Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) for advanced ovarian cancer.
  • Performing ward rounds both with the medical team and independently when appropriate and undertaking the ward care of gynaecological oncology surgical patients.
  • Facilitating the one-stop assessment of patients with gynaecological cancer in the surgical oncology clinic. This may include performing patient assessments, biopsies and ascitic drain insertion.
  • Vulval pre-cancer and cancer surveillance clinics.
  • Leading on an area of service development to be decided in conjunction with the Gynaecology Specialty Cancer Lead.
