Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Medical Nurse Practitioner to join our established gastro team.   The gastroenterology department within the RUH is a busy and dynamic speciality.  It comprises of a 24 bedded Gastro Ward, an endoscopy unit, and Gastro outpatient department.

We are looking for an experienced, senior nurse who holds at least one Masters Module in Clinical Assessment and/or Diagnostic Reasoning.  We will, however, consider applications from a senior nurse with a gastroenterology background who can be supported to undertake one of the core academic modules as a band 6.

On successful completion of your first academic module you would then be upgraded to a Band 7.  Having a nurse prescribing qualification would also be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

This role will be  based  on Haygarth ward where you will work as part of the Junior Medical Team providing excellent medical care to our inpatient cohort who have a variety of Gastroenterology and General Medical conditions. Supported by the Senior Medical Nurse Practitioner and Gastroenterology Consultants you will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of clinical skills

The role has been highly successful and is regarded as an essential part of delivering continuity as well as high quality assessment, clinical management and treatment of patients.

The post holder will be line managed by the deputy Director of Nursing for Medicine and receive clinical supervision from the Gastroenterology Consultants.
