Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Occupational Health Department for an enthuastic and motivated Senior Occupational Health Nurse/Advisor. The post holder will manage and provide professional leadership for the delivery of an effective high quality Occupational Health Service for PTHB. 

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the management, leadership, and delivery of an effective high quality Occupational Health (OH) service for Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) and as required to external organisations that the Health Board has a Service Level Agreement with. 
Provide specialist OH advice and clinical services to managers and employees of PTHB.

Provide departmental OH leadership undertaking all aspects of line 
management for the OH nursing team within their area. Management of the clinical area including managing resource, maintaining a safe environment to implement high standards of OH services. 

Monitor standards of OH service, client experience and safety through robust evaluation and implementation of appropriate action.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse level 1 (Part 1 NMC register)
  • Specialist post registration qualification in Occupational Health nursing
  • Evidence of professional development and willingness to acquire further qualifications relevant to Occupational Health service
  • Knowledge & experience of advanced Occupational Health nursing practice
  • Working knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations
Desirable criteria
  • Managerial qualification
  • SCPHN (OH)-Part 3 NMC REGISTER
  • Health Promotion qualification
  • Health & Safety e.g. NEBOSH
  • Counselling qualification
  • Teaching/Assessing course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of Occupational Health nursing
  • Extensive post registration experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Occupational Health issues
