Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Powys Teaching Health Board Planned Care Outpatient Team.
The post holder will work as a member of the Nursing Team under the direction and supervision of the Senior Sister to ensure a high standard of nursing care and safety for all patients or service users within the Out-Patients department.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will contribute to the assessment of care needs, the
implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, participating and
contributing to the wider clinical governance agenda including service
development and flexible working to meet the needs of the patients and
service.
This will include specialist skills in ENT, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology,
Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Podiatry, Rheumatology and Urology patient
assessment. You will work in a multidisciplinary and multi-agency arena
alongside other members of the primary and community teams. There is also a requirement to supervise junior staff and regularly work without direct supervision of a qualified nurse.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Level 3 NVQ/QSF in a Health Care associated certificate/ Certificate in Health Care Nursing Support Worker Education, Or Equivalent qualification, skills, knowledge and experience
- Numeracy and literacy skills
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of continuing personal development relevant to the role in the health care
- Local knowledge of statutory of voluntary services
Experience
Essential criteria
- Interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in providing care and undertaking clinical observations
- Experience in a range of clinical skills including visual fields, OCT recordings
Desirable criteria
- Previous caring role
Aptitude & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to diffuse difficult/threatening situations
- Skills in post-operative wound care
- Experience of clinical specialities
- Knowledge of management processes required to run the OPD department
- Data entry
- Post holder will be expected to achieve competencies ahead of being deemed able to administer a range of medication including oral, topical and subdermal
