THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 19 MONTHS DUE TO NEEDS OF THE SERVICE

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Powys Teaching Health Board Outpatient Nursing Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, dedicated and caring Band 6 Senior Nurse to work across sites providing clinical leadership and professional support to teams. There are a range of specialties delivered at PTHB such as ENT, Gynaecology, Oral surgery, Colorectal surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Rheumatology, and Ophthalmology

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post holder will work 22.5 hours per week and their base will be Brecon Hospital. Please see the attached Job description for further information. 

 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will combine excellent clinical practise with day to day shift 
coordination and undertaking leadership and management responsibilities in support of the Senior Sister. You will continually support and work in 
conjunction with the Senior Sister including deputising/taking charge of the
clinical area/team in their absence. The post holder will be expected to work Pan Powys as the service requires.


As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will have 
responsibility for the nursing assessment of patient care needs and the 
development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.
The post holder is required to co-ordinate the day to day running of the 
Outpatient Department working alongside the nursing team providing support to junior colleagues in the provision of direct patient care.


The post holder will support the Management Team within the OPD including in the recruitment process, resource management and clinical risk management.

  • Bachelor degress or equivalent experience
  • Pertinent postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience and a willingness to undertake post graduate diploma level study
