Main duties of the job

As a senior member of the theatre support team you will contribute by:

  • Ensuring all areas within the suite are clean, tidy and that adequate stock levels are maintained
  • Cleaning and tidying equipment used in theatre
  • Preparation of theatre equipment according to theatre schedules and local policy
  • To assist in promoting and maintaining good communication between all members of the theatre team
  • Checking, connecting, preparing and providing equipment and supplies to registered theatre personnel during patients perioperative stay
  • To assist in maintaining a safe working environment for patients, visitors and colleagues
  • Supporting registered theatre personnel by opening packs in a sterile fashion and manoeuvring equipment as required
  • Assisting with the positioning of the conscious and unconscious patient
  • Supporting and re-assuring patients during local anaesthetic procedures
  • Completing all relevant documentation including patient notes, TIMS, Theatre registers and care plans
  • Participate in the teaching and development of learners and less experienced staff
  • To adhere to the theatre and trust policies.
  • To be familiar with the structure of the unit and its relationship with the organisation
  • To be familiar with the concept of team working, to be involved team discussions, meetings and project developments

 

Working for our organisation

We currently have opportunity for 1post as Band 3   to join our  team responsible for supporting  a busy theatre department.

We are looking to recruit a full time post (37.5 wte) for Cardio-Thoracic Theatre as a Band 3 Theatre Assistant.

Our work is based predominantly in Cardio-thoracic Theatre with some clinical work in the Cardiac Angiography suite.

If you would like to join a supportive cohesive team that provides an excellent standard of care for patient’s undergoing cardiac and thoracic surgery, then this could be the job for you? This job involves working within the multi-disciplinary team , preparing the theatre suite ,working alongside registered practitioners, theatre cleaning and stocking up along other associated duties and responsibilities as defined within the job description.

A successful applicant will be given full training and supervision in all areas .We would like to recruit someone with recent theatre experience and  must have done the care certificate course.
